- Cong warns of protest if construction is delayed
Bhopal: Congress leader Rahul Singh Rathore has demanded immediate commencement of the construction work on the 80-feet road connecting Mandakini Square to Danish Kunj Square in Kolar area. Addressing a public hearing with the Bhopal Collector on Tuesday, Rathore warned that if the roadwork is not started soon, the Congress party will launch a protest during the upcoming assembly session.
Rathore, accompanied by local residents, submitted a memorandum to the Collector, highlighting that the road construction tender was approved over three months ago, yet no physical work has started. He accused officials of the Capital Project Division No. 1 of deliberately delaying the project to benefit the contractor.
The proposed road, which passes via JK Hospital in Ward 82, is crucial for daily commuters. Rathore pointed out that despite a memorandum being submitted earlier to both the Chief Engineer of MP PWD and the Bhopal PWD Chief Engineer on July 10, no action has been taken so far. The road’s condition has worsened with the onset of the rainy season, leading to large potholes and posing a serious threat to commuters.
Rathore has demanded that the Collector intervene immediately. He further stated that if action is not taken soon, the Congress will protest against the PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, local MLA Rameshwar Sharma, and concerned officials for neglecting public interest.
