Robbery of liquor shop collection agent cracked

  • Driver turns out to be mastermind, 4 held

Bhopal: Police have taken four youths into custody in connection with the robbery of a liquor shop collection agent in the Berasia area. Shockingly, the complainant’s driver has emerged as the mastermind behind the crime. Police are currently interrogating him, while one accused is still absconding.

According to police sources, Devendra Patel, the collection manager of a liquor shop, was returning to Berasia in a Bolero car on Monday night after collecting cash from Nazirabad. The vehicle was being driven by his driver, Manoj. Around 11 PM, near Bhaujapura Ghati, they encountered stones placed suspiciously on the road. When Manoj stopped the car, miscreants attacked, threw chilli powder into Devendra’s eyes, and escaped with a cash-filled bag.

Two suspects were caught

Soon after receiving the alert, Nazirabad police station in-charge Arun Sharma, who was patrolling with his team, intercepted two suspects on a motorcycle. During interrogation, they confessed to the robbery. Based on their inputs, Manoj and another accomplice were also arrested. The police are now on the lookout for the absconding accused, Kanha Gurjar.

Interestingly, Manoj had chilli powder thrown in his eyes too, as part of the plan, to avoid suspicion. The arrested persons have been identified as Dhanraj, Makhan, Sachin, and Lalu. Police believe the full case will be resolved soon with the arrest of the final accused.
