Bhopal: A woman residing in the Kokta Multi area of Bhopal died by suicide on Saturday night. The deceased, 34-year-old Anita Ahirwar, reportedly took her own life by hanging herself. The reasons behind the tragic step remain unclear, as no suicide note has been recovered so far.
According to police sources, Anita lived with her husband, Mukesh Ahirwar, and their two sons, aged 8 and 12. Mukesh works as a confectioner and was away at work during the incident. The children had gone out to play in the evening. Around that time, the elder son returned home and discovered his mother hanging from the ceiling.
The shocked boy immediately informed his father, who in turn alerted the neighbours. The body was taken down before the police were informed. A police team reached the spot shortly after and sent the body for post-mortem.
The body was handed over to the family on Sunday afternoon after the autopsy was completed. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. No allegations have been made by the woman’s family so far.
The police are looking into all possible angles to determine the cause of the suicide. The incident has left the local community in grief and shock.
