25 pc hike in wages of all industrial and unorganized workers

Bhopal: Labor Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, taking a historic decision towards the protection and welfare of the workers, has issued an order to give 25 percent more wages to all industrial and unorganized workers from April 1. Under the said decision, the wages of all trained and untrained workers associated with the industrial and unorganized sector will be increased from April 1, 2024. For the first time since 2014, wage revision of workers has been done in the state; this is definitely a revolutionary decision towards the welfare of workers.

Labor Minister Shri Patel said that the increase in wage rates will bring major changes in the lives of workers. This initiative has been taken for the upliftment of workers in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the “Development of all” being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. He said that the Labor Department is committed to the welfare and safety of the workers and many important decisions will be taken in this direction in the coming times. According to the rule, wage revision should be done every 5 years, for the first time after 2014 we have revised the wages of workers.

This decision will especially prove to be a milestone in making women workers self-reliant and empowered. Minister Shri Patel said that after receiving information about giving benefits of Sambal Yojana to the living people in Bhopal district, he immediately took cognizance of the matter and ordered action against the concerned officials. He said that instructions have also been given to take appropriate action to recover the amount paid. He said that he will continue to work continuously to protect the interests of the poor.

Workers will get minimum wage including DA

According to the information received from the Labor Department, there has been a 25 percent increase in the prevailing minimum wage rates payable to workers and a new minimum wage will be created by adding the variable dearness allowance payable from October 1, 2019, based on the average All India Consumer Price Index for January to June 2019, to the minimum wage. Pay rates have been determined. This tax has been calculated based on All India Consumer Price Index 311. Once the new minimum wage rates come into effect, the minimum wage of unskilled workers will be Rs 9,575 per month. Similarly, the minimum wage of semi-skilled workers will be Rs 10,571 per month. The minimum wage of skilled workers will be Rs 12294 while the minimum wage of highly skilled workers will be Rs 13919 per month. The wage rates of workers are based on the average of data from January 2019 to June 2019 based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers prepared by Labor Bureau, Shimla.

Farm workers will now get Rs 7660 per month

New minimum wage rates have been determined by increasing the prevailing minimum wage rates payable to agricultural workers by 25 percent and adding the variable dearness allowance payable to the minimum wage from October 1, 2019 on the basis of the average of All India Agricultural Workers Consumer Price Index prepared by Labor Bureau, Shimla. Once the new minimum wage rates come into effect, the minimum wage of agricultural workers will be Rs 7660 per month. Similarly, the prevailing minimum wage rates payable to beedi workers and agarbatti workers have also been increased by 25 percent. Minimum wage rates will not adversely affect any worker. If the present wage rates are more than the revised rates, they will not be reduced in any case until the minimum wage rates become equivalent to them.
