Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Former India pace legend Zaheer Khan has joined the Antwerp Anchors franchise as co-owner ahead of the inaugural season of the EUT20 Belgium Cricket League, the team announced on Monday.
The tournament is scheduled to be held from June 4 to 14 in Brussels, marking a significant step for the growth of cricket in continental Europe.
The franchise said Khan will be formally introduced as co-owner and partner in official league communications and will play an active role in shaping the team’s cricketing vision and long-term strategy.
Speaking on the development, Khan said Europe presents a major opportunity for cricket’s expansion and expressed enthusiasm about supporting emerging talent across the continent.
The team has also confirmed the inclusion of West Indies star all-rounder Andre Russell in its squad, strengthening the lineup for the debut season.
Antwerp Anchors owner Nagendra Siddoutam said Khan’s association is a strong statement of the team’s ambitions and will help promote cricket across Europe while inspiring young talent.
