Bhopal: Wedding celebrations at a farmhouse in rural Bhopal turned into mourning when a 20-year-old youth drowned while swimming. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at Vacation Villa Farm House in Harrakheda, under Gunga police station limits.
The victim, identified as Ayaan Ahmad, had come with friends to attend his friend’s sister’s wedding. After spending the day assisting with preparations, Ayaan entered the pool with others. He reportedly used a slide and accidentally plunged into the deep end, from where he failed to resurface. Despite over ten people being in the pool, his absence went unnoticed for some time.

When a friend finally realised he was missing, Ayaan was pulled out and given first aid. A video shows friends attempting CPR; he briefly regained consciousness but was unable to speak. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died during treatment early Friday morning.
Police confirmed Ayaan was the only son in his family. His elder sister is married, and his father works as a factory labourer. Ayaan had recently bought an e-rickshaw to help support the household financially.
His body was sent to Hamidia Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to his family. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
