- Local outrage follows
Bhopal: A tragic incident in Shahjahanabad’s Sanjay Nagar has sparked outrage after a young man, identified as Satish, was electrocuted due to negligence by the electricity department. Satish, a local halwai, was reportedly electrocuted when he brushed against an exposed Distribution Point (DP) on an electric pole near his home on Tuesday afternoon.
It is believed that the electric current spread from the open DP, which had been left uncovered, leading to Satish’s untimely death. The incident caused panic among locals, and the resulting power surge damaged electrical appliances in 8 to 10 nearby homes. Refrigerators, fans, coolers, and TVs were among the items destroyed, leaving residents with significant losses.
Residents of Sanjay Nagar are furious, blaming the electricity department for its negligence that led to the death of an innocent man and the damage to their property. They are demanding accountability and immediate action.
The police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, sending Satish’s body for a post-mortem. A case (inquest) has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to determine if the department’s negligence contributed to this tragedy and what steps will be taken against those responsible.
