Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress has intensified its campaign seeking justice for the deaths of innocents allegedly caused by contaminated drinking water in Indore’s Bhagirathpura area. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Youth Congress leaders launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state government, accusing it of apathy and failure to act.

Youth Congress leader Yash Ghanghoria demanded the immediate resignation of Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, alleging that his insensitive remarks and lack of seriousness contributed to the tragedy. He said that 28 people have died after consuming polluted water, yet no concrete action has been taken against those responsible, including the minister and the Indore Mayor.

Ghanghoria announced that the Youth Congress would launch a state-level Jan Adhikar Nyay Yatra, beginning from Indore, to press for accountability. State Youth Congress secretary Aniket Dwivedi said the nine-day foot march would start on January 28 from Rajwada, covering one Assembly constituency each day to raise public awareness.

The Youth Congress has demanded the dismissal of the minister and mayor, ₹1 crore compensation for victims’ families, a High Court-monitored judicial probe, and a thorough investigation into civic body corruption across the state.
