Lucknow, July 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Chitrakoot district’s Regional Inspector (Technical) and recommended disciplinary action against another official for a delay in issuing fitness certificates to school buses, official sources said here on Wednesday.
The officials were also rapped for confiscating two unfit vehicles midway and forcing children sitting in them to remain stranded in parked buses for two hours.
The government has suspended the transport department’s Regional Inspector (Technical) Gulab Chandra and recommended disciplinary action against the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Vivek Kumar Shukla, official sources said.
Sources said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned all the officers against any kind of laxity in government work.
Sources said that on Tuesday two buses transporting children from Shriji Inter College in Khoh were seized by the team of ARTO (Enforcement) Shukla due to expired fitness certificates. The buses, along with the children, were taken to the Fire Service Complex Police Line, located 10 kilometres away.
The vehicles were seized at 11.15 am and remained at the police lines till 1.05 pm, forcing the buses to be parked for approximately two hours causing inconvenience and distress to children.
According to reports, Regional Inspector (Technical) Chandra district was directed to inspect the fitness of school buses at their respective premises. However, he did not follow these instructions, resulting in the fitness certificates for both vehicles not being issued.
