Yogi felicitates Indian hockey players Rajkumar Pal, Lalit Upadhyay

Ghazipur, Aug 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday felicitated Indian Hockey players Rajkumar Pal and Lalit Upadhyay, who were part of team which won bronze medal in Paris Olympics.

During the event, he appointed Rajkumar Pal to the post of Deputy SP.

Lalit Upadhyay had already been appointed to this post.

During the felicitation ceremony organised at Meghbaran Singh Stadium, Yogi presented mementos and certificates to Lalit Upadhyay’s parents and Rajkumar’s mother.

Yogi also felicitated other players and coaches at Meghbaran stadium.

During his address, the CM said that a player gives his life for his game. “Then the country’s head rises high with pride. In such a situation, the country also needs to do a lot to honour the players.

Today, many policy works are being done by the UP government for sports and players. We have showered jobs for the players,” he said.

Yogi said, “In the recent years, more than 500 players who won medals in all the important competitions have been directly given jobs on important posts including Deputy SP so that their family can lead their life with respect.”

The CM said that the Meghbaran Singh Stadium family in Saidpur, Ghazipur is doing the work of nation building. “A financial assistance of Rs 5 crores is being given for the reconstruction of this stadium. We have provided this under the sports policy. He said now along with the government stadium, individual private sports institutions will also be promoted.”

He said that the progress of the son is due to the hard work of the parents. “On one hand, Lalit Upadhyay’s parents are constantly working for their son. On the other hand, Raj Kumar Pal lost his father in his childhood, despite that, his mother worked hard till date to educate her son and brought him here,” Yogi said.

The Chief Minister said that the players are making their important contribution in restoring the pride of hockey and will continue to do so in the future. “The government is dedicated to sports and these two players will get Rs 1 crore each and Rs 10 lakh each to all the talented players participated in the Paris Olympics from UP,” he said.

On this occasion, Minister of State Girish Chandra Yadav, former MP Radhe Mohan Singh, former Union Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey, Rajya Sabha MP Sangeeta Balwant, MLC Vishal Singh Chanchal, Ravindra Jaiswal, Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal and others were present.
