Yatnal makes corruption charges against Yediyurappa

Bengaluru, Dec 26 (UNI) Throwing a bombshell, the sulking BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal on Tuesday alleged a massive Rs 40,000 crore scam involving former chief minister BS Yediyurappa in the COVID-19 management in the state.

He also said that he would make public Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s corruption.

“My case against DK Shivakumar will come for hearing in (Karnataka) High Court on January 5. After that, I will expose Appaji’s (BS Yediyurappa) corruption,” Yatnal told reporters here.

He alleged that the bills of masks and beds for treating COVID-19 patients in the hospitals were bloated during Yediyurappa’s rule.

“Yediyurappa had billed a mask of Rs 45 at Rs 485. Do you think that Yediyurappa has worked for the poor during the COVID? He claimed to have set up 10,000 beds in Bengaluru. Yediyurappa paid Rs 20,000 per bed which too was taken on rent. For the same amount, he could have bought two new beds,” he said.

Yatnal also alleged that for every patient, a bill of Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakh was billed. “All these details are in the Public Accounts Committee. Rs 40,000 crore scam has taken place. For every patient, they have billed Rs 8 to 10 lakh. Thieves are thieves, I don’t care whether they are from my party,” he said.

Yatnal also threatened to disclose more details if the BJP issued a notice or removed him from the party. “Let them take action against me by issuing a notice or by removing me from the party, I will reveal their real picture,” he said.

The former union minister also accused former Agriculture minister BC Patil of corruption during his term as the minister.

Yatnal has been vocal against Yediyurappa and his son Vijayendra after the party denied him the post of either state party president or LoP in the state assembly.

Yesterday, Yatnal had called Yediyurappa ‘Shakuni’ alleging that the former CM had complained against him to central party leadership.
