Mumbai, Nov 3 (UNI) Bollywood actress Yami Gautam Dhar, known for her strong performances and thoughtful choice of roles, has opened up about what truly motivates her to take on a film and why “Haq”, her next big project, is so close to her heart.

After several hits and acclaimed films, Yami Gautam is now ready to deliver another powerful and emotional performance in her upcoming film, “Haq.”
She plays Shah Bano in the film, which is based on the infamous Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum Supreme Court case. Yami Gautam stated that the purpose of “Haq” is not to spark a debate, but to spark a conversation, giving audiences access to cinema that resonates with them.
Speaking about choosing the script for the film ‘Haq’, Yami Gautam said, “Our goal isn’t to start a debate, but to advance the conversation. Our intention isn’t just to make a project, but to make a film that’s honest and heartfelt. We want to showcase what we truly believe in, so that audiences come back to the theatres and feel that their time and money have been well spent.”
Directed by Suparn Verma and produced by Vineet Jain, “Haq” tells the story of a woman’s fight for her self-respect and equality in a society that often tests both. The film deeply explores her emotions and her courage to fight against society. Alongside Yami, Emraan Haqshmi plays her on-screen husband, adding further gravitas to the story’s layered emotional core.
Set to release in theatres on November 7, 2025.
