New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) World leaders and foreign envoys have expressed grief and solidarity with India following the deadly explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, which killed at least 13 people and injured 24 others.
Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said he was “shocked” by the incident and expressed confidence that the ongoing investigation would determine the cause.
“Shocked by the explosion at the Red Fort. Confident that the ongoing thorough investigation will determine the cause of the incident. Condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured,” Alipov wrote on X.
Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong also conveyed his condolences and solidarity and posted on X , “Saddened by the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort metro station. My deepest condolences to the victims, and my thoughts are with everyone affected.”
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar extended condolences to the people of India, saying, “I extend my & Israel’s deepest condolences to the people of India and especially to the families of the innocent victims killed in the blast at the heart of Delhi.”
Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar described the scenes as “heartbreaking” and praised rescue teams for their swift response.
According to union Home Minister Amit Shah, the blast occurred near the Subhash Marg traffic signal and involved a car that caused damage to nearby vehicles.
He said multiple agencies are probing all possible angles. Delhi Police have registered a case under the UAPA, the Explosives Act, and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The blast, which took place in one of Delhi’s busiest heritage zones, has triggered heightened security measures and a nationwide alert as investigators work to determine the cause and identify those responsible.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa also condemned the attack. Premadasa termed it a “terror attack” and called for global unity to combat terrorism.
The Canadian and US embassies in New Delhi issued condolence messages, with the US Embassy advising its citizens to avoid areas around the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.
