New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) A total of eight bills were passed by both Houses out of the 10 bills introduced in the Lok Sabha during the Winter Session of Parliament, which was adjourned sine die on Friday after 15 sittings spread over 19 days, according to a press release by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
The Ministry stated that the productivity of the Lok Sabha during the session stood at approximately 111 percent, while the Rajya Sabha recorded a productivity of around 121 percent.
The Winter Session of Parliament 2025 began on December 1.
According to an official statement, significant legislative business was transacted during the sixth session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 269th session of the Rajya Sabha.
“During the session, 10 Bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha, while eight Bills were passed by the Lok Sabha and an equal number cleared by the Rajya Sabha while a total of 8 Bills were passed by both Houses of Parliament,” according to a press release by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
A special discussion marking the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram was held in the Lok Sabha on December 8 and in the Rajya Sabha on December 9, 10, and 11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the discussion in the Lok Sabha, with 65 members participating in a debate that lasted 11 hours and 32 minutes.
In the Rajya Sabha, the discussion was initiated by the union Home Minister, with 81 members taking part, engaging the House for 12 hours and 49 minutes.
Parliament also held an extensive discussion on electoral reforms. The Lok Sabha debated the issue on December 9 and 10, with 62 members participating for 12 hours and 59 minutes, while the Rajya Sabha discussed the matter on December 11, 15, and 16, involving 57 members for a total of 10 hours and 37 minutes.
The first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2025–26 was discussed and voted upon, and the related Appropriation Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on December 15 and returned by the Rajya Sabha the following day.
Among the Bills introduced were the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025; the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025; the Health Security Se National Security Cess Bill, 2025; the Repealing and Amending Bill, 2025; the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025; the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill, 2025; the Appropriation (No.4) Bill, 2025; the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill, 2025; the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill, 2025; and the Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025.
The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025, was referred to a Joint Committee of both Houses, while the Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025, was referred to the Departmental Standing Committee of the Lok Sabha.
During the session, eight Bills were passed by the Lok Sabha. These included the Manipur GST (Second Amendment) Bill, the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, the Health Security Se National Security Cess Bill, the Appropriation (No.4) Bill, the Repealing and Amending Bill, the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill, the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill, and the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Bill.
The Rajya Sabha passed two Bills during the session—the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
