Why is there no discussion on suspension of MPs, asks Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) Amid a war of words between the ruling BJP and the Opposition on the mimicking row, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday wondered why the media is showing that only but there is no discussion on suspension of the Opposition MPs from Parliament.

“Our MPs have been thrown out of Parliament, but there is no discussion on that in the media.

There is no discussion on Adani, Rafale and unemployment,” he alleged while speaking to reporters at the party headquarters here.

The Congress leader further claimed, “Who disrespected? How? All the MPs were sitting there. I shot the video. Media is saying, (Narendra) Modi ji is saying, no one said anything.”

A purported video went viral on social media on Tuesday in which a Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member Kalyan Bandopadhyay can be seen mimicking Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dialed the Rajya Sabha Chairman and expressed “great pain over the abject theatrics of some MPs and that too in the sacred Parliament complex yesterday.”

Dhankhar posted on X and said, “Received a telephone call from the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Ji. He expressed great pain over the abject theatrics of some Honourable MPs and that too in the sacred Parliament complex yesterday. He told me that he has been at the receiving end of such insults for twenty years and counting but the fact that it could happen to a Constitutional office like the Vice President of India and that too in the Parliament was unfortunate.”

“I told him- Prime Minister, the antics of a few won’t prevent me from performing my duty and upholding the principles enshrined in our Constitution. I am committed to those values from the bottom of my heart. None of the insults will make me change my path,” Dhankhar wrote.
