Weather Watch: Monsoon Retreats, Leaving Parts of MP Damp

Clear Skies Ahead for Most Districts

Bhopal: Over the past 24 hours, light rainfall was recorded sporadically across districts in the Gwalior, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions, with isolated showers noted in the Rewa division. However, weather across the majority of Madhya Pradesh remained predominantly dry.

= Cloud Cover and Clear Skies

According to the Meteorological Centre, districts including Narmadapuram, Betul, Singrauli, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat experienced cloudy skies. Conversely, major districts like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, and Dhar enjoyed clear, dry weather. The Southwest Monsoon’s withdrawal line is actively passing through the region, suggesting its retreat is well underway.

Favorable Conditions for Monsoon Exit

The weather department anticipates that conditions are favorable for the monsoon to withdraw from additional parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours. However, the influence of a remnant low-pressure system (the cyclonic storm ‘Shakti’) over the West-Central Arabian Sea, combined with a Western Disturbance over Northwest Uttar Pradesh, may bring light rain or drizzle to a few northern and eastern districts of MP. Despite these localized factors, the forecast indicates dry weather will prevail across most of the state.
