- Completion of first four phases of Swachh Survey
Bhopal: The first four phases of the Swachh Survey-2024 have been completed, and now the fifth phase, the Water plus Survey, is set to begin after April 10. This upcoming survey will be worth 1,200 points, with 200 of those points specifically allocated to ODF Plus Plus (++) certification. Notably, Bhopal has already achieved ODF Plus Plus (++) status. For this phase, a thorough inspection of the city’s sewage network and water treatment processes will be conducted.
In the previous rounds of the cleanliness survey, over 3,000 locations were photographed and uploaded to the official portal. The next steps in the process include the Garbage Free City and Water Plus surveys, both of which will play a pivotal role in determining Bhopal’s overall ranking in cleanliness.
Bhopal Aims for the Top Spot
This year, the total points for the Swachh Survey have been increased from 9,500 to 12,500, incorporating new and expanded criteria such as waste management, the cleanliness of water bodies, public feedback, and the welfare of sanitation workers. With the ongoing beautification and construction work under the GIS (Geographical Information System) initiative, Bhopal Municipal Corporation is now a strong contender for the number one position in the rankings.
