In the wake of the ball tampering controversy, Australia vice-captain David Warner has stepped down as the skipper of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league.
Sunrisers Hyderabad confirmed the development on their official twitter handle and said,”In light of recent events, David Warner has stepped down as captain of SunRisers Hyderabad. The new captain of the Team will be announced shortly. – K.Shanmugam, CEO, SunRisers Hyderabad.”
Earlier, his teammate and Australia captain Steve Smith, the other accused in the ball-tampering scandal, was replaced as the Rajasthan Royals skipper by Ajinkya Rahane.
