‘War against militancy not fully over’ : J&K DGP

Srinagar, Nov 27 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police R R Swain on Monday said ‘the war against militancy was not fully over and it will continue even if the security forces have to suffer some losses at times’.

The Police Chief was talking to reporters after paying obeisance at the Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi in Srinagar on Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

“The war (against terrorism) is not fully over. It ends when one side acknowledges that bloodshed will not take them anywhere. Till that time, our fight against terrorism will continue despite facing some losses at times,” the DGP said.

He said there was no question of backing down from the war against militancy.

” …The fighting force was trying to minimise losses to the public. If the challenge is to move forward even though we have to bear losses, we will not back down from this challenge,” the police chief added.

On infiltration from across, Swain said it increases at some places and decreases at some others .

“It is a matter of strategy that cannot be discussed publicly,” the DGP said.
