Wanted fugitive brought back to India from UAE with Interpol’s help

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has today brought back a wanted fugitive, Parminder Singh, also known as Nirmal Singh or Pindi, from the UAE through Interpol channels.

Singh was wanted by Punjab Police in a case involving extortion, offences under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for raising funds for terrorist acts, attempted murder, and criminal intimidation.

He had fled India and had been absconding for a long time.

“The International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) of the CBI, in collaboration with the MEA, MHA, NCB-Abu Dhabi, and Punjab Police, coordinated to bring back the accused on September 26. He was escorted by a team of Punjab Police from the UAE,” a senior police official said.

Earlier, on June 13, 2025, the CBI had a Red Notice published through Interpol at the request of Punjab Police. Singh was subsequently arrested by UAE authorities, who later decided to extradite him to India.

“Red Notices published by Interpol are circulated to all law enforcement agencies globally to track wanted criminals. The CBI, as the National Central Bureau for Interpol in India, coordinates with all law enforcement agencies in India through Bharatpol for assistance via Interpol channels. More than 130 wanted criminals have been brought back to India in the last few years through this coordination,” the official added.
