New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday appealed Congress supporters to vote for AAP in the next month Assembly election to gain the benefit of his party’s welfare schemes, warning that voting for Congress would benefit the BJP.
In a video message, Kejriwal said that many continue to vote for Congress out of habit despite knowing that the party has no real standing in Delhi.
“A few days ago, some Congress supporters came to meet me. I asked them, ‘Whom will you vote for?’ They said, ‘Congress.’ I asked why, and they responded that they have been pressing the Congress’ hand symbol for years, so it has become a habit. However, they admitted that Congress would not win a single seat in Delhi,” he said.
“They told me that Congress today is not the Congress of the past. Now, their leaders are fighting among themselves. Look at Haryana—Congress lost a winning election. Congress supporters are left disappointed as their own leaders are more focused on ensuring the party’s defeat,” the AAP National Convenor said.
Arvind Kejriwal further asserted that Congress’ real motive in Delhi is not to win but to help BJP by weakening AAP.
“It is evident that Congress is only contesting in Delhi to defeat AAP. They are not fighting to win even a single seat but are instead working alongside the BJP,” he said.
The former Chief Minister pointed out that Congress leaders refrain from criticizing the BJP and instead focus all their attacks on AAP. “Congress leaders say nothing against the BJP but keep spewing venom against me and AAP.”
Kejriwal warned that voting for Congress would ultimately benefit BJP and lead to the rollback of AAP’s welfare schemes. “If you vote for Congress, the BJP government will come to power. They will ruin government schools, stop free electricity, shut down Mohalla Clinics, and end free bus travel for women.
This will increase your expenses by at least Rs 25,000 per month. Where will you get that money from?”
“If you vote for Congress, you are indirectly helping the BJP. And if the BJP comes to power, all the benefits you receive from our government will be taken away. You will end up losing approximately Rs 25,000 every month. Can you afford that? No, right? So, as your brother, I am telling you—vote for the ‘Jhaadu’ (AAP’s election symbol). And if you ever have any personal work, just come to me. I will always be there to help you,” he added.
