- Disciplinary action vowed against officers sharing social media posts in uniform
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police’s Special Branch has issued a scathing directive to field staff, expressing severe displeasure and concern over the rampant practice of VIP security personnel (PSOs) creating and sharing ‘reels’ on social media while on duty or during training. The directive warns that this “unprofessional” conduct will now be met with strict disciplinary action.
The order, issued by the Inspector General, revealed that PSOs are frequently uploading videos featuring themselves in uniform or plain clothes, violating departmental discipline and protocol.
The directive specifically highlights two critical issues:
* Damage to image: The posts are deemed highly detrimental to the police department’s dignity and disciplined image.
* Security risk: Publicizing security drills and locations is deemed inappropriate and compromises the safety of the VIPs.
The order, sent to Police Commissioners and Superintendents across the state, demands that all security staff be given strict instructions to immediately cease sharing content that damages the department’s integrity. The high command has vowed that any future violation will result in rigorous departmental action.
