Bhopal : To highlight the legacy of the great Samrat Vikramaditya, the Vikram Samvat, and his significant contributions to India’s glorious history, a grand theatrical performance titled “Mahanatya Samrat Vikramaditya” will be held from April 12 to 14 at Madhavdas Park in the Red Fort, New Delhi.
Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar will inaugurate the cultural celebration “Vikramotsav” at 7 PM on April 12. The event will be graced by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, and Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Along with the grand play, several exhibitions will be organized at the Red Fort focusing on themes such as Vikramaditya and Ayodhya, Archaeological coins from the Vikramaditya era, The cultural grandeur of Greater Bharat, Tourism potential in Madhya Pradesh and Investment & employment opportunities in the state.
Visitors will also get to relish authentic cuisine from Madhya Pradesh at the dedicated food court. The three-day festival will vividly portray the contributions of one of India’s greatest heroes.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Vishala Cultural and Public Welfare Committee has brought this theatrical concept to life. The play will narrate the life of Samrat Vikramaditya from his birth to his coronation, presented by a grand ensemble of around 125 artists and 50 supporting crew members.
To enhance realism, horses, chariots, palanquins, and camels will be part of the performance. The dramatic presentation will utilize three stages and special effects through LED graphics to create an impactful visual experience.
This event provides a major platform to showcase Madhya Pradesh’s cultural heritage, arts, and tourism on the global stage. “Vikramotsav 2025” is being organized to introduce the masses to the golden era of the legendary Samrat Vikramaditya. It not only aims to communicate his historical and cultural significance but will also bring national attention to Madhya Pradesh’s rich traditions and tourism potential.
As part of Vikramotsav 2025, Madhya Pradesh Tourism will install food stalls featuring traditional dishes from the state, offering a culinary experience to the people of Delhi. Information will be shared about key tourism initiatives, innovations, and tourism circuits of the state. Citizens will have the opportunity to explore historical narratives through technology, including AR/VR pavilions and a holographic display of Baba Mahakal.
A dedicated space will also showcase Madhya Pradesh’s traditional handicrafts and art forms, featuring Gond art, Bagh prints, terracotta, palm leaf crafts, paper mâché, and traditional paintings, along with various handmade products.
