Bhopal: Former minister and senior Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma has raised serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Madhya Pradesh, alleging that it is a conspiracy orchestrated jointly by the Election Commission and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed that the exercise aims to delete the names of Dalit, Adivasi, labourer and minority voters from the electoral rolls.
Verma said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were being forced to carry out the revision work without adequate preparation or necessary forms, undermining the fairness of the electoral process. “We are closely monitoring the situation and standing firm. The Congress will issue a notice to the Election Commission demanding to know why the SIR process was initiated without sufficient readiness,” he stated.
Calling the exercise a “well-planned propaganda” by the BJP and the Election Commission, Verma said that previous elections had already shown how the names of poor, labour and minority voters were deliberately removed. He asserted that the Congress would expose this conspiracy and fight at every level to protect the democratic rights of the people.
