Vajpayee & Malaviya’s lives will continue to inspire future generations towards national service: Delhi CM

New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said unveiling of the portraits of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, in the Delhi Legislative Assembly complex is a historic and inspiring moment, as their lives and works will continue to inspire future generations towards national service, good governance and value-based leadership.

The CM stated that both these towering personalities symbolise the resolve of ‘nation first’, integrity, farsightedness and public welfare.

Recalling the contributions of Malaviya in the fields of education, the freedom movement and national consciousness, the Gupta said that the establishment of institutions such as Banaras Hindu University stands as testimony to his visionary and value-based approach towards education.

Referring to Vajpayee, she said that as a statesman of an era, he laid the foundation of development and national unity , which is presently turning out to be the basis of the rapid progress that the country is witnessing.

CM further stated that the coffee table book ‘Bharat Mata’, released to commemorate 150 years of the composition of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, is dedicated to the creative and artistic expression of Indian national consciousness, and is going to be a source of inspiration for students, researchers, and policy-makers.

She expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that it was under his leadership, that great personalities whose lives were devoted to national service, have received due recognition.

Gupta stated that in line with PM’s vision of ‘development as well as heritage’, the Delhi government is working towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ by imbibing the ideals of great leaders, who back in the day contributed towards nation-building.

“Their thoughts and values will always guide the nation, and this remains our true tribute to them,” she added.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath SIngh, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, Cabinet Minister Parvesh Verma, including several other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
