New Delhi, (UNI) President Draupadi Murmu on Friday conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar to 20 courageous children from 18 states for their exceptional achievements in various fields. The winners included promising 14 year old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Congratulating Vaibhav at a function in Vigyan Bhawan here on Friday, President Murmu said Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made a distinct mark for himself in the highly competitive and talent-rich world of cricket and has set many records.
It is noteworthy that young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in men’s List A cricket at the age of 14 years and 272 days when he made a century in just 36 balls on the first day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Suryavanshi, while playing for Bihar in the Plate League match in Ranchi recently, completed his century against Arunachal Pradesh in just 36 balls. This is his first century in senior cricket other than T20.
This is also the second fastest century by an Indian in List-A matches. The year 2025 has proved to be a breakthrough year for Sooryavanshi.
After becoming the youngest player to be selected in the IPL auction at the age of 13, he became the youngest player to score a century in the IPL.
He played a total of seven IPL matches, in which he scored 252 runs at a strike rate of 206.55.
Suryavanshi is likely to be available only for the first few matches of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He will then join the India Under-19 team for the conditioning camp in Bengaluru ahead of the Under-19 World Cup starting January 15.
