New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami after an avalanche hit a BRO labour camp between Mana and Badrinath early on Friday burying 57 workers.
He also spoke to the Director General, ITBP and the DG of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
On X, Shah in a post said, “Spoke to Chief Minister Shri @pushkardhami ji, DG ITBP and DG NDRF regarding the glacier burst in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Our priority is to safely evacuate the people trapped in the accident”.
“The local administration is engaged in rescue operations with full readiness. Two teams of NDRF are also reaching the spot soon,” the Home Minister said.
ITBP and Indian Army rescue teams swiftly launched rescue operations, evacuating 10 injured workers who are now receiving treatment in ITBP and Army MI rooms, an ITBP statement said
Efforts are ongoing to locate and evacuate the remaining trapped workers, despite extreme weather challenges.
Rescue operations are in full swing, with all necessary precautions in place. Further updates will be shared as the situation unfolds, the statement said.
