Lucknow, Aug 27 (UNI) The weather department has forecast heavy rains across Uttar Pradesh from August 30, even as parts of the state, particularly districts adjoining Uttarakhand, are likely to see only sporadic showers over the next three days.
Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Baghpat are likely to receive moderate to heavy rains along with thunder and lightning today, while Aligarh, Badaun, Sambhal, Hapur, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur may receive light to moderate rains.
Meteorologist Dr AK Singh said that the low pressure area that passed through the southern part of the state has weakened, and the associated cyclonic circulation has shifted towards Rajasthan.
Also, due to the possible southern movement of the monsoon trough due to the effect of another low pressure area forming over the North West Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast, there is no active weather system in the state.
As a result, due to the effect of moisture coming from the Bay of Bengal towards the mountains, there is no possibility of any effective rain except sporadic rainfall in other parts of the state except the districts adjacent to Uttarakhand during the next three-four days.
He said that if the conditions are favourable from August 30, then along with an increase in the distribution and intensity of rainfall in the state, heavy rains may occur again. In the same sequence, the conditions are favorable for good rains again in the capital Lucknow after August 30.
It may be noted that the monsoon trough implies that there is a long strip of low pressure, which directs the flow of winds responsible for the monsoon system in the Indian subcontinent. It is a line of low air pressure, from where the air rises and causes heavy rainfall.
Usually, this route passes through Rajasthan to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. When it shifts northward from its normal position, the rain decreases in the plain districts of the Ganges. Whereas the intensity of rainfall increases in the Terai region.
