Upper reaches of Himachal records snowfall

Shimla, (UNI) Snowfall and rain continue to hit different parts of Himachal Pradesh, dropping temperatures further and making travel conditions difficult.

Narkanda has received a light spell of snowfall, while snowflakes were seen in Theog and Kufri.

Snowfall has also been reported near the ATR Tunnel, and authorities are advising people to avoid unnecessary travel unless there is an emergency.

Una recorded the highest rainfall at 4.6 mm, followed by Dalhousie, Sundernagar, Jubberhatti and Bilaspur with 2 mm each and Chamba with 1 mm.

Temperatures across the state vary, with Shimla at 13.7 degree Celsisus, Sundernagar at 14.7 degree C, Bhuntar at 14.5 degree C, Kalpa at 10.6 degree C, Una at 20.6 degree C, Solan at 23 degree C, Manali at 10.8 degree C, Kangra at 18 degree C, Mandi at 15.5 degree C, Chamba at 15.3 degree C, Dalhousie at 9.6 degree C, Jubberhatti at 17 degree C and Tabo at 11.6 degree C.

In Shimla city, light rain or snow is expected in some areas. Across the state, light snowfall is likely in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and the higher reaches of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Kullu.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi, with light rain possible in other areas as well.

Over the next 12 hours, snowfall is expected in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and the higher altitudes of Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Kangra. Many places in the state are likely to receive light to moderate rain.

Authorities have urged people to be cautious while travelling, especially near the ATR Tunnel and snow-affected areas.

In Lahaul Spiti district, Tindi and Kidhu Nallah road is affected by landslides since Monday (yesterday).
