Meerut, (UNI) Police have registered a case against well-known Meerut-based YouTuber and social media influencer, Shadab Jakati, following serious allegations made by a woman who had collaborated with him on social media reels.
According to the complaint, the woman accused Shadab Jakati of wrongful confinement and physical exploitation. Based on her statement, a case has been registered under serious sections at Inchauli Police Station in Meerut district. After the FIR was lodged, Meerut Police began searching for the influencer.
The complainant also alleged that Shadab Jakati’s wife assaulted and threatened her when she spoke about approaching the police. The woman claimed that she was beaten and warned, and further alleged that Shadab Jakati threatened to have her husband killed.
In her complaint, the woman stated that she was initially offered work and began making videos with Shadab Jakati. However, she alleged that later he started forcing her to portray the role of his wife in every video, which she objected to.
Notably, Shadab Jakati has been involved in controversies earlier as well. A few days ago, the husband of another woman had accused him of assault and issuing threats.
Meanwhile, Shadab Jakati has released a video statement on social media, denying all allegations. He claimed that the woman had approached him seeking help, stating that she worked as a labourer, had a child, and was unable to afford the child’s education.
Shadab said he helped her by paying six months school fees, arranging courses, providing books and assisting with ration and financial aid.
He further stated that members of his team and local shopkeepers could testify to the assistance he provided. Shadab maintained that he never touched the woman and that she never stayed at his house overnight. He added that CCTV cameras were installed at his residence.
Calling the allegations a conspiracy, Shadab Jakati said he welcomes a fair investigation and asserted that if any evidence is found against him, he would accept responsibility.
Police officials have stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on evidence.
