New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday at the Prime Minister’s residence in the national capital. The meeting, which lasted for over an hour, comes at a crucial juncture as speculations regarding a cabinet reshuffle and expansion in Uttar Pradesh gain momentum.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the meeting via a post on handle X, stating: “Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri @myogiadityanath, met Prime Minister @narendramodi.”
While the meeting was officially described as a courtesy call, sources indicate that the two leaders discussed several high-priority issues for the state, including:
Cabinet Expansion: Discussions reportedly touched upon filling vacant ministerial slots in the UP government following the transition of several state ministers to central roles in late 2025.
Infrastructure and AI Hubs: CM Yogi briefed the PM on the progress of the upcoming AI Cities in Lucknow and Noida, and the Rs 3,700 crore semiconductor unit in Jewar.
UP Diwas 2026: Preparations for the ‘UP Diwas’ celebrations (January 24–26), which the state plans to take global this year to showcase ‘Brand UP’ to international investors.
Viksit Uttar Pradesh: A roadmap for the state’s contribution toward the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, focusing on the digital economy and data center parks.
The meeting follows shortly after the virtual inauguration by PM Modi of the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship in Varanasi, where both leaders emphasized the importance of youth and sports.
The visit is seen as politically significant as the BJP gears up for organizational changes within the state. CM Yogi is also scheduled to meet BJP National President J P Nadda later this evening to further discuss the internal party restructuring and the strategic roadmap for the 2027 State Assembly elections.
