UP: 12 killed, 16 injured in road accident in Hathras, PM announces ex-gratia

Hathras (UP), Sep 6 (UNI) In a major incident at least 12 people were killed and 16 others were injured when a roadways bus collided with a van in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a senior administration official said here.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Hathras, UP. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.

The PM posted on X, “The road accident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh is extremely painful. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this. May God give them strength in this difficult time. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of the people injured in the accident. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way.”

Meanwhile. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the road accident in Hathras district. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.

He has directed the district administration to immediately take the injured to the hospital and to provide them proper treatment. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The CM has directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work.

District Magistrate Ashish Kumar said that the incident took place on Agra-Aligarh highway where in a bid to overtake the roadways bus collided with the van. He said that so far 12 deaths have been confirmed.

He said that 16 people have been injured in the incident out of which 4 have been referred to Aligarh.
