Bhopal, 31 October 2025: A Unity Run was organised today at the BHEL, Bhopal Sports Club to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event was graced by Pradeep Kumar Upadhyay, General Manager and Unit Head, BHEL Bhopal, as the chief guest.
The occasion was attended by T.U. Singh, General Manager (HR); all General Managers; DROS; union representatives; V.S. Chauhan, Additional General Manager (Sports); Prashant Pathak, Additional General Manager (TAD); Arif Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional General Manager (HR), along with several officers and a large number of employees.
In line with the directives of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the Fit India Freedom Run 6.0 was organised nationwide from 2nd to 31st October 2025 under the theme “Cleanliness and Health”. The initiative seeks to promote physical fitness, active living, and public participation in running and walking activities.
At the start of the event, Upadhyay administered the National Unity Day pledge to the gathering. He highlighted that various sports and fitness events based on “Cleanliness and Health” had been organised at the BHEL Bhopal unit throughout October under the Fit India campaign. He added that National Unity Day is celebrated annually to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose invaluable contribution to the nation’s unity remains an enduring inspiration. Upadhyay extended warm wishes to all on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Singh urged employees to continue working with dedication and enthusiasm to drive the organisation forward. The programme was coordinated by Upendra Kumar Singh, Additional General Manager (Publicity and Public Relations), who also proposed the vote of thanks.
