Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Orders Special Survey for Rain-Hit Crops in Raisen

Raisen: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a crucial meeting at the Raisen Collectorate on Friday, focusing on crop damage due to heavy rainfall and ensuring fertilizer availability for farmers. He announced a Special Survey for the major crops affected by the excessive downpour.

Deep Dive into Crop Damage

Chouhan stressed the need for an accurate assessment of losses in Soybean, Maize, and Tur crops. Recognizing the limitations of satellite data, he specifically instructed the administration to conduct crop cutting and physical field surveys for soybean to ensure farmers receive fair compensation. He assured farmers that they would receive benefits under both the RBC 6-4 scheme and the Crop Insurance scheme, with the comprehensive damage report being sent to the central government for joint state and central relief.

Addressing Fertilizer Shortages

The Minister also addressed the issue of long queues of farmers waiting for fertilizer at the district headquarters. While stating that NPK and DAP are sufficiently available with daily rail rake allocations, he acknowledged distribution challenges caused by the token system and software issues at double lock points. Chouhan directed the administration to streamline the process and ensure timely updates on fertilizer stock and distribution for full transparency.
