Kolhapur / Ratnagiri, Oct 16 (UNI) A new flyover bridge being built on Mumbai-Goa national highway at Bahadur Sheikh Naka in Chiplun of Ratnagiri district suddenly collapsed on Monday along with the launcher system.
The work of raising girders for about 1.81-km-long flyover bridge was going on in the morning and at 1445 hours in afternoon, the bridge suddenly collapsed with launcher, which was being used for outing girders, due to land subsidence, police said.
However, no one was reportedly injured.
Upon receiving information of the incident, administration officials and MLA Shekhar Nikam rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation while a team of experts has been called from Mumbai for help.
Due to accident, the vehicular traffic on both sides of the highway came to a standstill, sources added.
