San Francisco, Oct. 24 (UNI) U.S. Alaska Airlines grounded all its flights nationwide on Thursday evening due to an unspecified technology outage.
“Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place,” the airline said in a post on X.
The IT team is working to solve the error in the system as soon as possible, the airline said in a response to an X user, recommending that passengers check their flight status before heading to the airport.
The move also impacted Alaska Airlines’ subsidiary Horizon Air, as well as specific flights bound for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) operated by Alaska Airlines’ regional partner SkyWest Airlines, a Federal Aviation Administration advisory showed.
The latest advisory added that the ground stop was extended except for flights departing from the SEA airport.
Passengers affected were fed up with waiting for hours at airports across the United States, local media reported.
Alaska Airlines experienced a “temporary, system-wide ground stop” in July for about three hours due to an IT outage.
