Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The World Environment Day was celebrated by BSNL’s Telecom Women Welfare Organization (TWOO) under the leadership and guidance of organization’s president Alka Shukla.
MP Pollution Control Board (MPPCB) senior officer Neeraj Verma delivered a lecture at BSNL Bhavan. In his address he said plastic is not only extremely harmful for the environment but also harms humans, birds and animals.
TWOO president Alka Shukla urged all the officers and employees to care for protect the nature and environment and not to use the plastic. To encourage the participants to stop using plastic and polythene, the cotton bags were distributed among them. She urged them to say no to plastic and use only cotton bags. The TWOO’s woman members planted sapling on BSNL Bhavan.
Debate on plastic pollution organized
A debate on ‘Environmental consciousness to beat the plastic pollution’ was organized on the Avriti Bhawan premises of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya Bhopal, from the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park, Patrakar Colony, Bhopal, on Tuesday on the eve of the World Environment Day, the participants gathered to listen to.
It was presented by a 21- year old youth participant Snigdha Chaturvedi, a resident of Bhopal pursuing BTech. She is also an online volunteer at the United Nations Volunteering India to contribute peace and sustainable development.
After her deliberation, she urged to pledge and spread the message on beating plastic pollution. ‘If you cannot reuse it, refuse it’, she said.
The Director IGRMS and officials of IGRMS gave their enthusiastic presence towards the successful organisation of this global event of awareness. The programme was coordinated by P Sankara Rao, Assistant Keeper, IGRMS.
The environmental enthusiasts and the participants of the Bicycle Rally organised by the Sangrahalaya on Tuesday on the auspicious eve of this World Environment Day, actively participated in the programme of plantation in the museum premises to live with the memory of this grand celebration and also to register their presence as a Museum Friend marching together for an Environmental Consciousness.
Besides, under the series of ‘Exhibit of the Month’ of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, a traditional object ‘Leephan’ (An altar for the worship of Holy Scriptures) is displayed for a whole month. Sandesh Kumar Jain (Director, Central Institute of Plastic Engineering & Technology, Bhopal) and Director, IGRMS, Prof SK Chaudhuri jointly inaugurated the Exhibit of the month at Veethi Sankul indoor exhibition building.
