Imphal, Jan 13 (UNI) Two militants were arrested in separate operations by security forces across Manipur, and a cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered, police said Tuesday.
In Imphal West district, security forces recovered arms and ammunition from Langol Reserve Forest Hill near the roadside leading to the Lamdeng Water Supply area under Lamsang police station. The recovered items included one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) along with two magazines, two single-barrel guns, three pistols with three magazines, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm SLR ammunition, one No. 36 high-explosive grenade, eight tube launchers and one hand-held communication set.
In another operation, security personnel recovered an unidentified metal object, suspected to be a locally made mortar (pumpi), from the Monghlam area under the Thoubal Dam police station in Imphal East district during long-range patrolling.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested an extortionist from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai in Imphal West district. A mobile phone was seized from his possession.
In a separate operation, an active militant allegedly involved in causing an explosion at a fuel station at Moirang Thana Leikai in Bishnupur district on January 8, 2026, was arrested from Kakching district.
Police officials said that following the arrest, other accomplices involved in the fuel station explosion have been identified, and efforts are underway to arrest them.
