Tel Aviv, May 30 (UNI) US special envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack and Deputy Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus will visit Israel’s northern border next week amid normalisation talks between the Jewish state and Syria, Israeli media reported.
Israel and Syria held several rounds of the first known direct talks in order to ease the tensions between the two neighboring countries and prevent conflict in the border region.
The American envoys’ visit will coincide with a meeting of the committee overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, scheduled for June 4 in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, the Kan broadcaster reported on Thursday.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of Israel, Lebanon, the United States and France, the report read, adding that the parties are expected to discuss the continuation of the agreement and Israel’s continued presence in the border area.
