New Delhi, March 11 (UNI) US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced plans for what he described as the first new oil refinery to be built in the United States in five decades, a massive $300 billion project by India’s Reliance Industries to be located in Texas.
In a post on social media, Trump said the refinery would be developed by America First Refining at the Port of Brownsville in Texas and would involve investment from Reliance Industries.
Trump described the project as “a historic $300 billion deal, the biggest in US history,” claiming it would mark the first construction of a new oil refinery in the country in 50 years. According to him, the project would generate thousands of jobs, strengthen American energy security, and significantly expand refining capacity.
The refinery, he said, would supply domestic fuel markets while also supporting global energy exports. Trump added that the facility would be designed to be “the cleanest refinery in the world.”
The announcement was made by the White House to ease concerns about rising energy prices linked to the war in Iran. Trump is considering several options to reduce the cost of oil and gasoline, including releasing supplies from emergency reserves and providing military escorts for tankers traveling through the Strait of Hormuz.
