Training Arrangement for English Language Teachers in State

Bhopal : The School Education Department is making special arrangements for training of English language teachers in government schools across state. For this purpose, a state-level teacher training institute, the English Learning Training Institute (ELTI), is operational in Bhopal. This institute provides academic and training support related to English language across all government primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools in the state. ELTI is also receiving support from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Hyderabad for continuous upgradation and standardization in the field of English language teaching.

Training Of English Language Teachers

The School Education Department has placed particular emphasis on the training of teachers who teach English in government schools. ELTI has prepared a calendar for training programs for the academic session. The institute also assists in the preparation of multi-level question papers for English language assessment and in translating question papers of other subjects. ELTI supports the selection process of teachers for diploma courses affiliated with various universities in the state. Special focus is being placed on organizing training programs for teachers working in rural and tribal areas. The institute also continuously undertakes assessment and evaluation activities to gauge the effectiveness of various teacher training programs.

English Olympiad

Last year, ELTI developed an Olympiad question bank and question papers for English language competitions conducted at cluster, block, and district levels for students of classes 2 to 8. More than 10 lakh students participated in the Olympiad last year. The institute also created a manual for need-based training for teachers teaching English in secondary schools. Additionally, ELTI has coordinated in the development of English textbooks prepared by the state for classes 1 to 8 and those aligned with NCERT for classes 9 to 12.
