Workers returning from fields met with tragic accident near Dhandravatiganj
Indore: A tragic road accident near Chandravatiganj in Sanwer claimed three lives and left around 24 others injured when a tractor-trolley overturned on Monday evening. The mishap occurred while workers were returning home after completing their fieldwork.
According to police reports, the tractor-trolley was carrying over 25 agricultural laborers from Ratan Khedi village to their homes in Bibi Khedi and Hariya Khedi. The accident took place between Bibi Khedi and Ratan Khedi. ASP Rupesh Dwivedi stated that the vehicle lost balance while taking a turn, causing it to overturn.
Two women, identified as Jani Bai (40) and Kamala Bai (50), died on the spot, while a minor succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. The injured were rushed to Sanwer Civil Hospital, and those in critical condition were later referred to Aurobindo Hospital in Indore.
Eyewitness Rahul Chaudhary said that a child accidentally pressed the hydraulic lever of the tractor while it was turning, leading the driver to lose control. Another eyewitness said that the trolley overturned in a muddy area, burying some victims under the soil.
Tulsiram Silawat rushes meets the injured
Upon receiving information, Collector Shivam Verma directed hospitals to stay on alert. CMHO Dr. Madhav Hasani confirmed that medical teams were immediately deployed. Water Resources Minister and Sanwer MLA Tulsiram Silawat cancelled his programs in Bhopal and rushed to Indore to meet the injured. He assured free medical treatment and announced RS 4 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased.
The accident also caused a brief traffic jam on the route as locals gathered at the spot.
