Tight security in place as Amit Shah arrives on three-day visit to J&K; to chair security review meet

Jammu, (UNI) Tight security arrangements are in place in Jammu as union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived here on Thursday evening on a three-day visit to the UT.

The union Home Minister was received at Jammu airport by J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Shah is set to chair a security review meeting, visit the International Border and also assess developmental projects.

Officials said that on Friday, Shah will inspect the area of responsibility of Border Outpost Gurnam and will also visit Border Outpost Bobiya in Hiranagar belt of Kathua district.

They said that the Shah will also e-inaugurate and lay the e-foundation of six welfare schemes for border security personnel.

Later, the union Minister will hold a security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir here at Lok Bhavan, adding, “he will also hold compassionate appointment and meeting with families of martyrs.”

On Saturday (February 7), Shah will hold a meeting on the development of Jammu and Kashmir at Lok Bhavan, Jammu.

Special check points have been set up in Jammu City and vehicles are being checked in view of the tight security arrangements in place.

Security has also been augmented along the international border ahead of the VVIP’s visit.

This will be Shah’s second high-level review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in less than a month.

Earlier, he chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi on January 8.

It was followed by union Home Secretary Govind Mohan’s visit to the union Territory.
