Three dead in light plane crash in southeast Australia

Sydney, Oct 11 (UNI) Three people died after a light plane crashed and immediately caught fire south of Wollongong, in southeast Australia, this morning.

The plane crashed at Shellharbour Airport shortly after taking off, police of the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement.

The aircraft caught fire upon hitting the ground, but the blaze was quickly extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW personnel.

Emergency services are currently at the scene, and a crime scene has been established.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified of the accident, the statement said.
