Bhopal: Bhopal came alive with vibrant processions and festivities on Friday to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. Two major processions were taken out, with thousands of devotees participating to celebrate the sacred occasion. The events featured community feasts (langars) and were attended by prominent political figures, including PCC Chief Jitu Patwari and MLA Arif Masood.
A city on the move
One of the main processions, organized by a committee led by Abdul Nafees and protected by MLA Arif Masood, began from Mangalwara and wound its way through the city’s Old Quarter. The procession traveled through several key areas, including Bharat Talkies Square, Itwara, and Moti Masjid, before concluding at Imamigate Square. The large gathering led to traffic diversions in parts of the old city.
Procession also taken out in Ashoka Garden area
A separate procession also commenced from Ashoka Garden, ending near the Jinsi Police Station. Throughout the day, mosques and Islamic institutions across the city organized special prayers, Quran recitations, and feasts to commemorate the day. The events highlighted a sense of unity and reverence among the city’s Muslim community, as they honored the life and teachings of the Prophet.
