Chauke (Punjab), Sep 23 (UNI) Going all guns blazing against his political adversaries, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday alleged that people envious of the state’s peace, progress and prosperity were spreading “canards” about him to derail growth.
Addressing a gathering after dedicating 30 new Aam Aadmi Clinics to the state here, Mann said as he was dedicatedly working for the well being and prosperity of the state and its people, some political leaders were unable to digest the development works that were being carried out.
These leaders were repeatedly spitting “venom”, but such cheap tactics won’t deter him from serving the people and he would continue his efforts for the state’s overall development.
Mann said his predecessors had never bothered about the state or its people, and instead always gave preference to their family and “vested interests”. Such attitude on the part of these leaders have proved “detrimental” both for Punjab and its people.
He said the traditional parties and its leaders were “envious” of him as he hails from a family of commoners. These leaders believed they have the divine right to rule the state and befooled the people since long, but now the masses were not getting swayed by their “misleading propaganda”.
Training his guns at his predecessors, the Chief Minister claimed that these leaders had built huge palaces by “amassing whopping wealth by misusing their official positions”, and remained inaccessible to the people due to which they were ousted by the masses.
Attacking Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, he said despite remaining at the helm of the state, the former Deputy Chief Minister was unaware even about its basic topography.
“Sukhbir doesn’t even know the basic difference between Pumpkin (kaddu) and bottle gourd (lauki).,” he quipped.
