New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) The Delhi Police has stated “This is a bomb blast” in its First Information Report (FIR) lodged in connection with the Red Fort blast case, a copy of which was accessed by the UNI. The FIR also mentions that the wall of a Delhi Police Chowki was damaged in the explosion.
According to the FIR, “There was a loud explosion. The wall of the Chowki collapsed due to the explosion. The police staff rushed to the site and witnessed cars in which fire had broken out, while the injured were lying on the road. All the injured were taken to a hospital. This indeed seems to be a bomb blast.”
The FIR has been lodged at the Kotwali Police Station of the North District. It has been filed under sections of The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, including Section 16 (punishment for terrorist acts) and Section 18 (punishment for conspiracy).
Charges have also been invoked under the Explosive Substances Act, specifically Section 3 for causing an explosion likely to endanger life and Section 4 for the attempt to cause an explosion.
The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been applied, including sections 103(1) for murder, 109(1) for attempt to murder, and 161(2) for the abetment of assault on a superior officer.
The complainant in the FIR is Chowki Incharge of Red Fort, Vinod Nain. The bomb blast occurred on Monday at 6:52 pm. It was a loud explosion that took place in a moving vehicle, which killed ten people and injured 24 people.
Multiple investigative teams from the NIA, Special Cell, Crime Branch, and local police have all been pressed into service. As part of the investigation, a team went to Haryana yesterday to apprehend the owner of the car.
