Theatre stampede in Hyderabad: Allu Arjun questioned; his bouncer arrested

Hyderabad, (UNI) Telugu actor Allu Arjun was questioned by the police for more than three-and-a-half hours here on Tuesday in connection with the tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2 movie.

A woman had died in the stampede while her son was critically injured.

The police have rrested Allu Arjun’s bouncer Antony in connection with the mishap.

Amidst heavy police deployment and barricades at Ashok Nagar, the actor along with his legal team reached the Chikkadpally police station at around 11:05 am and was let off around 2:45 pm after his statement was recorded by the police.

The actor’s father and father-in-law also accompanied him during the visit to the police station.

Police have indicted Anthony, a bouncer who accompanied the actor and his family during their visit to the Sandhya Theatre on December 4.

The police later produced him before the court.

The court released him later on conditional bail and asked him to cooperate with the police in the investigation.

So far there are 18 accused in the case including Allu Arjun, the security team members, and theatre management.

Meanwhile, the health condition of 8-year-old child (Sritej) continues to be stable without any oxygen or ventilatory support, according to a health bulletin released by KIMS Cuddles, Secunderabad here this evening.

In a release, hospital doctors Dr Chetan R Mundada and Dr Vishnu Tej Pudi, said “His sensorium is similar with spontaneous eye opening and spontaneous limb movements but there is still no meaningful eye contact or recognition of family members.

He is waking on verbal stimulus but not following any oral commands.

He has intermittent dystonic movements and stiffness in his limbs for which medicines are being given, they said.

He needs intermittent suctioning of the tracheostomy tube.

He is tolerating feeds via nasogastric tube well and has been afebrile for the last three days, the doctors added.
