Quetta/New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) More than 10 people were killed and at least 30 wounded in a car bomb explosion outside Pakistan’s para-military force headquarters in Balochistan’s Quetta today.
Local media reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Frontier Constabulary headquarters. Before the blast five-six gunmen in the car stepped outside and fired on the security forces. However, all the gunmen were killed in the encounter.
Officials told the local media that the wounded were being treated at the hospital. Some of the wounded were critical and the toll might go up. Some reports said 13 people were killed.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Local media quoted Provincial health minister Bakhat Kakar as saying that the death toll could rise further and most of those killed and injured were civilians.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said six attackers were involved in the assault and all of them were killed by security forces.
Local television channels showed a car stopping in front of the gate of the paramilitary headquarters. The car explodes and gunfire is heard after the blast.
In Islamabad, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denounced the bombing. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also condemned the attack.
