Telangana: Met Centre forecasts extremely heavy rain in Vikarabad, Sangareddy

Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) The Meteorological Centre has issued a Red Alert for Telangana, forecasting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Vikarabad and Sangareddy districts during the next 24 hours.

In its daily weather report, the Met Centre also issued an Orange Alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places across 14 other districts during the same period. These include Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool.

The southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Telangana. The report noted that similar heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue tomorrow across districts including Nizamabad, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.

Over the next three days, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places across the state. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are forecast at most, many, or a few places throughout Telangana during the next seven days.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are also likely at isolated places in all districts over the next week.

The report also detailed the conditions of the past 24 hours: heavy rainfall was recorded at a few places in Jangaon, Medak, Sangareddy, and Vikarabad, and at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Karimnagar, Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts. Rainfall was recorded at most places across the state during this period.
